PUBG Sanhok Map Test Now On PC

Published

on

PlayerUnknown Battleground has kicked off the 3rd round of testing for the new Sanhok map, formerly referred to as Codename: Savage, and it is going on, right now, on PC.

If you’ve purchased PUBG on Steam then you will be able to try the smaller island map which has implemented a number of changes, as it now features four new areas: Cave, Tambang, Lakawi, Na Kham.

PUBG Corp. has adjusted how the red zone operates as well, saying the red zone will “generally” no longer appear within the safe zone.

Here are some additional details, via the patch notes:

Gameplay
  • We’ve applied the same weapon balance and item spawn changes from the current PUBG live servers (see patch notes #12)
  • We’ve adjusted item spawn balance for Sanhok specifically:
    • Increased the overall item spawn amount
    • Adjusted the AR spawn balance in the world
      • Increased total amount of AR
        • Slightly decreased spawn ratio for M416, but the total amount spawned will remain similar to before
        • Increased spawn ratio for M16A4, AKM
    • We’ve improved the reticle of holographic sight: the reticle is now the same size as a character silhouette seen from 100m away
  • Before boarding the plane, you can now throw apples (found in your inventory)
  • Changed Redzone rules
    • Generally, redzones will no longer appear inside the safe zone (white circle). There are some exceptions when the blue circle is too close to the white circle.
      • With this change, it becomes a bit more risky to play outside of the safe zone.
        • Vehicles
          • Added extra design variants for the Aquarail
          • Added spawn points for Aquarails and Motorbikes near the cave area
          Bug Fixes
          • Blood effects should now appear as intended
          • Certain FPS drop issues and sound issues have been resolved
          • Fixed an issue causing the “aim punch” effect to be too noticeable.
          • Certain invisible objects in buildings have been removed
          • The minimap now shows areas 200 meters away (instead of 100m)
          Known Issues (Investigating)
          • Sometimes in FPP, if the player was vaulting at the time when the game starts, the player doesn’t get on board in the plane and instead flies straight to the final destination of the plane. (Yes, still)
          • When using the Death Cam, sometimes players disappear or weapons become invisible.
          • Sometimes in spectate mode or Death Cam, scopes are visible, but scope mesh isn’t.
          • Sometimes other players appear as zombies.
          • Sometimes the bluezone indicator on the minimap gets temporarily out of sync.
          • Weapons sometimes fail to appear when viewed in out-of-game menus.
          • Friends list is not working properly.

Overwatch 2

Blizzard is leveling up their efforts to thwart cheaters and misconduct within Overwatch 2, as the company aims to penalize players who are friends with cheaters and will amp up their monitoring of voice communications.

The company detailed this in the brand new update for its Defense Matrix Initiative, which is focused on curbing “gameplay sabotage, abusive chat, and cheating” stating their plan to come down on players who team up with cheaters, and more.

Blizzard admitted that cheating in Overwatch 2 is a problem and has “actioned over 50,000 accounts” since the game launched and starting in Season 3 they will be actively identifying players that purposely team up with players who are regularly flagged as cheaters, and will also face potential discipline.

Overwatch 2 will also have improved protection for streamers, as the issue of Stream sniping continues to be a problem, and in Season 3 they will be “introducing new streaming protection features that should be a huge step toward enabling content creators to share Overwatch 2 with their fans safely.”

Blizzard is encouraging players to report any disruptive or problematic behaviour in their matches.

EA Shuts Down Apex Legends Mobile, Stops Development on Battlefield Mobile Game

EA and Respawn Entertainment is shutting down their Apex Legends mobile game with the company announced that they will be sunsetting the title this May with EA adding that they have also stopped development on a mobile Battlefield title.

According to Respawn Entertainment, the decision to sunset Apex Legends was not an easy one to make but the company said that “factors” beyond its control have prevented it from “maintaining the high-quality experience and content” players deserve and expect.

Despite the game having a rather strong start, Respawn said that the content pipeline for the game began to “fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence.”

EA announced that they made the decision to halt the Battlefield mobile title as they wish to create “deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem” which made them arrive at the decision to “pivot from the current direction”

“We remain highly committed to unlocking Battlefield’s enormous potential,” the company said in the statement. “We’re hard at work at evolving Battlefield 2042 and are in pre-production on our future Battlefield experiences at our studios across the globe.”
